Meat Beat Manifesto is one of those acts that I've always thought was just too cool. I listen to their music and think, "Jesus, this is amazing. They incorporate so many styles and make it sound like it was all meant to exist in the same space together rather than just a mish-mash of influences nailed on top of one another. And it just sounds so friggin' cooooool. In fact, I'm not sure I'm cool enough to even be listening to this music. Jesus farty fuckin' Christ is this music cool!"
Then I stop listening and move on to other things. And when people ask me about them, I always say, "Hell yeah! MBM are friggin' cool as Hell!..but I haven't listened to them in a while. I'll have to pull some of that shit out and give it some spins!"
And I do. I listen to it once, marvel at its impossible coolness, then it goes back in the rack with the other three thousand or so CDs.
Well, I've been listening to the new Meat Beat Manifesto album, Autoimmune (out on April 8th) for a few weeks now. It's making it impossible for me to get other reviews written because I can't stop listening to this disc. It's amazing. It's incredible. It's just...so goddamned, motherfucking cool. I have it nearly memorized, beat for beat, and I still have no idea what I'm going to write for the review, other than, "GODDAMMIT IS THIS ALBUM FUCKING COOOOOOL!!!"
Goddammit is it cool.
It is so cool.
So yeah, if you're unfamiliar with Meat Beat Manifesto, get In The Know. Regardless of whether or not you're cool enough to count yourself as a fan. I'm currently working on hooking up an interview.
